On the Insert tab, select Page Number, and then choose the location and style you want. If you don't want a page number to appear on the first page, select Different First Page. If you want numbering to start with 1 on the second page, go to Page Number > Format Page Numbers, and set Start at to 0.
Insert page numbers. Select Insert > Page Number. Select where you want the page number to appear. Select the style you like and Word automatically numbers each page for you. Start page numbering on second page. Open the Header & Footer Tools by double-clicking inside the header or footer area.

Word automatically adds a break at the end of each page. You can also insert a manual page break anytime you want to start a new page in your document.
Click or tap anywhere in the page you want to delete, press Ctrl+G. In the Enter page number box, type \page. Press Enter on your keyboard, and then select Close. Verify that a page of content is selected, and then press Delete on your keyboard.
Use page breaks to control where a page ends and where a new page begins. Insert a page break. Place the cursor where you want to start a new page. Select Insert > Page Break. Change page break settings. Select Layout. In the Paragraph group, select the small arrow.
Insert a page break. Put your cursor where you want one page to end and the next to begin. Go to Insert > Page Break. Tip: If Word puts a new page in your document unexpectedly, it might be because of a page break.
